With this blog, my aim is to post a slather of ideas, lines, colour and inevitably a little bit of babble. I would like it to be a place where Architecture meets Art, falls in love and procreates. This is my passion, brilliant, unguarded and unafraid.

Cheeky goats - abergowrie

I spent a moment with my folks last week in Abergowrie, North Queensland. A tiny town nestled in amongst the cane fields, this place offered me many moments of delight such as these crazy goats! Even though they managed to munch away at my mums new rose buds, they were a great subject to sketch...mm goats cheese goodness.

Boondall Wetlands

Saturday was the last site sketching expedition with UAB's Block 2 - Brisbane's Green Spaces.  It was a beautiful day and we managed to find plenty of exciting moments to draw.

Abstract landscape - from the Bird hide. A ground of acrylic ink then drawing in with fine pen + blue watercolour wash.

Derwent inktense pencils & fineliner pen.

Research for UAB block 3!

With UAB Block 3 beginning in just over one week. Joannah Underhill and I have been scouting the cafe scene of Brisbane to find some great interiors to add to our list of drawing sites for the next 6 weeks. This sketch is from the inside of La bouquiniste café at 121 Merthyr Road newfarm. My red velvet cupcake and coffee was divine and the atmosphere very cozy and quirky. This cafe is a wonderful space for dreaming, lined with new books for sale and plenty of otherworldly nic nacs. Unfortunately it's a little too cozy for our group of 10-20 sketchers all at once, but I highly recommend this cafe to any coffee lover in Brisbane.

Northbank view from SLQ - State Library of Queensland

Urban Art Binge was at QAG today. I stayed on to sketch in the State Library of Queensland.. waiting for the rain to pause so I could ride my pushie home without obtaining a wet bottom! I need to buy a mud-guard!

Lunch at Verve Cafe

Lunching at Verve Cafe on Edward street as I plan to show some works there in September. A very warm atmosphere was surrounding me as I enjoyed my red wine & lasagne whilst creating a narrative about + around the cafe patrons. Ps: The Blue Cheese Risotto is A-MAZE-ING.

Brisbane Indesign Festival 'Artists at Work'

As part of the BiD Brisbane inDesign Festival last weekend, Chairbiz Brisbane hosted the first ever 'Artists at Work' competition in the carpark of their Fortitude Valley showroom. 10 artists gathered, with a carpark bay each, with the aim of completing their piece between 10am and 4pm on the day. The vibe was really groovy and many talented and kind people were met!

I am excited and proud to announce that I was the winner! Yey! I'm a newbee when it comes to competitions though It was a wicked expericence. My piece entitled Between Walking and Dreaming will be hung in the show room and travelled around the country to other InDesign festivals. Below is a detail of the piece. I will post a complete image soon.

Thanks go to the Guelton Family in France for their beautiful gift of my blue painting suit which continues to inspire and protect me.
