Reaching beyond the surface
Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at 11:47PM Today was the 4th portrait sitting with Catherine. I feel like we are getting to some place special. Somewhere beyond the surface towards the heart. The challenge for me is to work these studies into a painting that expresses many things, simply. I want to portray the many faces of C that are beautiful, raw, surprising and challenging. There is intense lightness and humor alongside a well of emotion and pain. Humans are containers of experience. We are rich, incredible and in many ways completely unknowable. What a privilege to have this opportunity. Game on Fong.
