With this blog, my aim is to post a slather of ideas, lines, colour and inevitably a little bit of babble. I would like it to be a place where Architecture meets Art, falls in love and procreates. This is my passion, brilliant, unguarded and unafraid.
If you'd also like to hear from me every now and again, you are welcome to subscribe to my mailing list.
Heaven
I've been shown a magic place where the city is distilled to it's material essence. Here a worker bee collects, tests, sorts, lables..and..then..waits.....to find the owner of that lightbulb to be tested....for the door knob to find a new door. Found in Coorparoo, Brisbane, next to a train line and a demolition yard. It has no sign. I plan to get to know this worker bee. To listen to his story. To document his world.
Dream Sketch 221111
Dreaming about being hugged by an enormous water dragon. It's approaching me slowly and curiously. I can feel my muscles tigtening as I begin to panic. Before I know it, the heavy and textured creature and I are in a full embrace. I can feel a rush of calm flow through from my top to bottom.
A stunning dream that I'm painting this week. I'd like to capture it from my perspective, though the challenge is how to express my sense of looming fear, and eventual calm.. without my face ( a face ) in the image..
A Visit from my Guru
Today I had a lovely visit from my Guru. I have imposed a new condition that upon entering my studio, one must earn their cup of tea by posing for a sketch. I'm wanting to get better at portaits. SO if you would like to be a subject, and to spend some time with me in my studio space, please feel free to do so... just call in advance. I find, as with most things, when a subject is well known it is harder to be objective and draw what I "see." Practice, practice, practice.
Life
So delicate, so precious, so transient this life.
Take time for your love, take time for your wife.
On days when hearts are heavy, even sinking to your feet,
Remember that you'll be ok - just stop.
...Share a seat...
Drawing Dreams 191111
I had previously posted a sketch of a dream of mine. On and off I have been journaling my vivid other adventures. This painting is an adaptation from sketch to acrylic and charcoal. It has been sold to a dear friend of mine. The person who suggested that these adventures are very much worth documenting. Thanks for that.

Acrylic Sketch
I'm currently working on some material for a little animation. I've always been interested in recording movement and different ways to express motion and depth in my drawings and paintings. The media will definitely be mixed and I'm thinking it might be time to get down with digital.. Imagine the magic that could be made!... this little sketch is using acrylic, charcoal and polychromos (faber castel coloured pencils) on butter paper. I quite like the crinkling of material which has been beefed up by my impatience... I love using the old hair dryer to speed the drying process. More on my progress with this project soon.
