With this blog, my aim is to post a slather of ideas, lines, colour and inevitably a little bit of babble. I would like it to be a place where Architecture meets Art, falls in love and procreates. This is my passion, brilliant, unguarded and unafraid.

Bonjour Grenoble!

Today my friends and colleagues from the Masters Class at ENSAG in Grenoble, France, will present their final projects before becoming graduate architects. How awesome. I would just like to say a big hello from Australia. Vous me manques énormément.

Fort Lytton (tea + green ink + graphite)

I was telling a friend last week about my bad habit of leaving tea cups next to my jar of turps and the few close calls that came with that nasty combination. She suggested it was a sign I should start using tea as a painting medium.. so this morning before beginning the next piece I've tested the tea trick and I really like the outcome. Tea has a wonderful texture to it... cheap too!

A peek at my progress..

So for the last month I've been madly exploring and sketch-painting landscapes in and around Brisbane for the exhibition in July. Here's a preview of one piece in progress, the Sirromet Winery at Mount Cotton. Any suggestions for interesting locations are very welcome.

This being the year of big leaps and creative freedom I've decided to dive deep into oil as a medium. I'm very comfortable with the ways of watercolour and have been for years, however there's something to be said for the thrill of the unknown. I was introduced to oil painting briefly before leaving France last year and I thank Catherine Harley for passing on her passion.

The gardens behind the temple are yet to be constructed. At the moment there's an assortment of stained glass windows and a row of broken roof tiles that form a rough landscape of sorts.
