Portrait Sketch 8.8.11
I'm trying to capture a girl in the mirror... she's not making it easy for me.
With this blog, my aim is to post a slather of ideas, lines, colour and inevitably a little bit of babble. I would like it to be a place where Architecture meets Art, falls in love and procreates. This is my passion, brilliant, unguarded and unafraid.
If you'd also like to hear from me every now and again, you are welcome to subscribe to my mailing list.

Miss Jodie Cowie graciously shared her time and musical talent with all who attended my exhibition on the 9th of July this year. To thank her, a hand-crafted ukie to continue inspiring others with music. To listen to Jodie's vocals follow the link to her site: http://www.myspace.com/jodiecowie_music
I was telling a friend last week about my bad habit of leaving tea cups next to my jar of turps and the few close calls that came with that nasty combination. She suggested it was a sign I should start using tea as a painting medium.. so this morning before beginning the next piece I've tested the tea trick and I really like the outcome. Tea has a wonderful texture to it... cheap too!
So for the last month I've been madly exploring and sketch-painting landscapes in and around Brisbane for the exhibition in July. Here's a preview of one piece in progress, the Sirromet Winery at Mount Cotton. Any suggestions for interesting locations are very welcome.
This being the year of big leaps and creative freedom I've decided to dive deep into oil as a medium. I'm very comfortable with the ways of watercolour and have been for years, however there's something to be said for the thrill of the unknown. I was introduced to oil painting briefly before leaving France last year and I thank Catherine Harley for passing on her passion.
Another great life drawing class at Jugglers Art Space last Wednesday. See the body for more drawings and sketches.
